So, I’ve been watching Star Wars for the first time before the new one comes out tomorrow.

Upon beginning the series, my friend convinced me I’d love it as much as he does, once Yoda came in dropping all the knowledge bombs I immediately fell in love.

The character of Yoda is completely wise beyond his years. I mean think about it.

He talks about how FEAR is the path to the dark side and FEAR leads to anger, anger leads to hate etc. 

FEAR is a slippery slope that leads to assumptions, unnecessary worrying, arguments in relationships over things that haven’t even happened, & delaying of beneficial life choices the dark side that Yoda is talking about in daily life.

See, FEAR is at the root of almost anything in your life, whether you slayed the fear in certain situations or became prisoner to it. 

Something that is really helpful is FEAR setting.

FEAR setting is a way to look at your fear’s on paper, work through them and let them go.

Tim Ferris of the 4 Hour Workweek explains that there are 3 steps to Fear Setting.

It works like this:

First, get a paper and draw out 4 columns.

-In the first column write down the fear.

-In the second column write down everything that could go wrong, the worst possible extreme scenario of this fear.

-In the third column write down everything that you could do to lesson the outcome of the worst possible scenario of this fear.

-In the fourth column write down how you would “recover” from all the worst possible scenarios of this said fear.

At the end of the exercise you look back and realize that this fear was completely outlandish and unrealistic, or as Ferris says to Business Insider “You come away from that exercise realizing, ‘Wow, I was getting extremely anxious and all worked up over something that is completely preventable, reversible, or just not a very big deal.'”

As I was saying earlier in the post, the thing is, FEAR is only in your mind, it doesn’t exist. It’s something that we create. Once you are able to really sit down and write it into words you are able to fully realize this.

I say that today, lets all commit to acknowledging when these FEARs arise, take a breath, let them go and rather becoming fearful, let’s become fearless!
