As I leave to take off from my trip in NYC, I reflect on how bright-eyed I was upon arriving.

How excited I was for my brother Sam to come home from the military, how excited I was to see all my loved ones that I hadn’t seen in so long, and to spend the most time I’ve spent there since before I left in 2013.

I went to spend time with my family, for fun and catching up, but what I left with was much more.

I find that I have changed and grown immensely in the last 3.5 weeks.

I guess that’s what happens when you’re in a fast passed environment out of your comfort zone but yet in so much familiarity.

I roamed the streets that I once called home, seeing how much I had already changed and standing deeper into my being and my boundaries each step that I took.

I had many 5am nights that were reminiscent of the old times, far too much Gluten free pizza, and saw my most cherished friends and loved ones which, for that, I am truly grateful.

See, It doesn’t matter the distance between people, what matters is the bond that you share with them.

That you can go days, weeks or years without seeing them and pick up right where you left off the last time.

Countless nights of late night chats with my brother reminded me that no matter how much we fight our bond is always there.

I felt like I closed loops and opened doors.

I made new friends and spent time with old ones.

I had some wild times, and some low key solitude.

So even though I went on this trip for my brother Sam who wasn’t able to come home, I got so much more than that.

I left feeling grounded, inspired and so excited to come back in a few weeks for Christmas.

What it solidified most, however, was that LA is my home.

LA is where I belong.

So onward and upward and to all the next journey’s on the path of growth each and every day.
